Benefits
The following list is only a summary. Please contact David Freeland, Assistant (call 480-782-8872, toll free 800-393-0647, or email) for more information on any of these services.
LEGISLATIVE LOBBYING, LEGISLATIVE MONITORING, LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATION - ASPA's Legislative Committee is diligent in their vigilance of the legislative process at the Capitol. Working with their lobbyist in this effort, they are constantly on watch for legislation that would pose a threat to the practitioner in Arizona.
LOCAL YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING - Local yellow page advertising is available for ASPA members in chapters outside the metropolitan areas of Phoenix and Tucson. If you are a member of ASPA and are interested in this benefit, contact David Freeland at 480-782-8872 or toll free 800-393-0647.
LOCAL CHAPTERS - ASPA's chapters meet on a monthly basis and provide continuing professional education (CPE) for their members while offering networking opportunities for members. ASPA has chapters in Cochise, East Valley, Mohave, Phoenix, Prescott and Tucson. Refer to the Chapters section of this web-site for information on the chapter that is nearest you.
SEMINARS - ASPA provides professional programs that help improve the quality of services provided by professionals. Seminars are offered to ASPA members at a reduced rate. This saving will more than offset the amount of dues. Active membership in ASPA requires that members obtain 80 hours of CPE in a two-year period. Additional CPE is available through chapters at monthly meetings, chapter workshops and study groups.
During seminars the Society will present a trade show for the accounting profession. This will enable you to check out the latest software, supplies and service available while manufacturer's representatives demonstrate products in a hands-on environment.
NATIONAL SOCIETY OF ACCOUNTANTS AFFILIATION - Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants is the state affiliate of the National Society of Accountants (NSA). The National Society of Accountants is a professional organization with more than 17,000 members who provide auditing, accounting and tax preparation, financial and estate planning and management services to approximately 4 million individuals and business clients. NSA offers many services, which include but are not limited to, tax research assistance, conferences and cpe programs. NSA's credentialing arm is the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT). ACAT credentials include Accredited Business Accountant (ABA), Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA) and Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP). Study courses are available to assist in preparation for the ACAT ABA exam.
MEMBER OF AFIT - ASPA is a member of Arizona Forum for the Improvement of Taxation (AFIT). AFIT is a coalition of the Arizona Bar, Arizona Society of Enrolled Agents, Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants, and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants with liaison from the Internal Revenue Service, the Arizona Department of Revenue, and the City of Phoenix.
